Top 5 Reasons To Visit The Museum This Winter

Top5ThingsWinterBlackbirdBlog

The cold weather is a great reason to find fun indoors, and the Museum has plenty of activities for kids and families to enjoy! Whether want to live your dreams of flight, find the perfect gift, or hear fascinating stories about the world’s coolest spy plane, the Museum has something for you this winter.

Blackbird Tales

Our most popular storytelling event is back with daily sessions from December 26 to January 1. Each storytelling session takes you on a tip-to-tail tour of the incredible M/D-21 Blackbird while sharing little known facts about its production and missions. Prepare to be amazed!

The Museum Store

If you’re looking for the perfect holiday gift for your favorite av geek, space nerd, and everyone in between, stop by our Museum Store when you visit this winter. We will have unique items of jewelry, kids clothing, model planes, travel gear, and housewares that inspire an interest in aviation and aerospace. Best of all, when you shop at our store, all proceeds go towards supporting our mission of education and historical preservation.

Santa’s Landing Party

What kind of plane does Santa Claus fly? See for yourself when Santa and Mrs. Claus land at the Museum on December 15, 2018. During our annual Santa’s Landing Party, kids have a chance to meet Mr. and Mrs. Claus, share their holiday wish list, enjoy live holiday music from the Boeing Concert Band, and participate in fun, hands-on workshops!

Behind the Scenes of First Man

Check out the costumes and props used in First Man, the film depiction of Neil Armstrong becoming the first human to ever walk on the Moon. Movie buffs and aviation geeks will appreciate seeing rare items featured in the film, like the flight suit worn by Ryan Gosling, who plays Neil Armstrong, and a scale model of the Lunar Excursion Module (LEM). Our exhibit Behind the Scenes of First Man is open until December 20.

Pilot Experience

Have you always dreamed of being a pilot? Feel what it’s like to sit in the pilot’s seat by trying our Pilot Experience, where you can plan a flight, do a flight check on a Cirrus SR20 and carry out that flight on a simulator in our Aviation Learning Center. The Pilot Experience is a fun weekend activity and ideal for children over the age of 10; children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
